Our Approach
KIPP King Collegiate was founded 10 years ago in the name of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and as such, is deeply focused on social justice and developing young leaders who will change our world. To this end, KIPP King students attend school from 8:15 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students take a rigorous course load of seven academic classes, participate in advisory groups, and take two enrichment classes for the joy of learning. By graduation, students will have successfully completed the A-G requirements to be qualified to apply for admission to the University of California campuses. KIPP King has a positive school climate where all students, staff, and families are welcome regardless of their their religion, sexual orientation, political beliefs, language, abilities, or economic status. KIPP King practices restorative habits to insure that all students and staff have a safe and culturally aware environment in which to learn and teach. Our caring environment, advisory groups, and rigorous instruction results in high graduation and college admission rates for our student body.
